● Zeetta Networks are among three UK-based SME winners to be selected by leading telecom companies to join the Telecoms Infra Project programme.
● This gives Zeetta Networks access to over £125 million in venture capital funding, along with expert support from world leading tech giants.
● Zeetta will use this to further develop their NetOS® software-defined technology platform and explore commercial deployment opportunities in partnership with BT and Facebook.
Zeetta Networks, will be one of the first entrants to the TIP Ecosystem Acceleration Centre (TEAC) initiative, part of the Telecoms Infra Project (TIP) founded last year by leading global telecom companies. TIP has the ambition to transform connectivity around the world through innovative network infrastructure technologies that will challenge the traditional approach to deploying global telecoms.
The initiative grants Zeetta Networks access to a pool of over £125 million in venture capital, as well as world class support and expertise from leading tech giants Facebook and BT, amongst some 400 major telecommunications companies involved with TIP, including EE, Deutsche Telekom, Nokia, Intel and SK Telecom.
Earlier this week Zeetta Networks, alongside six other shortlisted companies chosen from over sixty across the UK and Europe, pitched to a panel of experts from BT, Deutsche Telekom, Facebook, and Orange at the BT Tower in London. The winners were selected for their potential to increase connectivity in isolated areas, improve network user experience, and lower network costs. In particular, Zeetta was selected for the development of its NetOS® software-defined networking technology that enables on-demand network virtualization and ‘slicing’, and development of new applications for OA&M optical and wireless networks.
CEO of Zeetta Networks, Vassilis Seferidis commented:
“We are very pleased that Zeetta Networks’ technology has been recognised by global tech giants as offering the solid potential to meet global challenges in telecom infrastructure. This is a major achievement for Zeetta and opens up tremendous business opportunities to work with Tier 1 Telcos and Facebook to further validate our technology and our capability in tackling challenging networking problems with innovative solutions.”
Howard Watson, CEO of BT Technology, Service and Operations, said:
“It’s more important than ever before that we seek expertise not only from our home-grown talent and established partners, but also from newly created small businesses.
“By bringing innovative SMEs like Zeetta Networks to our ecosystem and helping them to grow, to scale up, and access the funding they need to develop even more successful businesses, we’re supporting the development of technologies that have the potential to tackle some of our society’s biggest challenges around connectivity, around security, and accessibility of digital services.”
In October 2017, Zeetta Networks is hosting its inaugural Smart Infrastructure event to demonstrate to a wider audience its capability and commercial potential of its innovative NetOS® technology for stadiums and venues. The event is open to all to attend with tickets available via Eventbrite and the Zeetta Networks website.
