Zeetta Networks welcomes Budget announcement of £500m boost to UK tech sector

Today, Wednesday 22nd November 2017, the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his autumn budget statement announced the release of £500m of public sector funding for the UK’s tech sector. The investment focuses on a range of tech applications from AI to 5G and full fibre deployment. Some £160m of the boost is specifically ear marked for development of the UK’s 5G network. The drive behind the announcement is part of the Government’s desire for the UK to be a world-leading digital economy.

This advancement in 5G innovation comes hot on the heels of the Government’s new Innovate UK 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme: Phase 1 Competition launch. Coming from Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS), up to £25 million is available for projects that encourage technology and deployment, test beds and trials to stimulate the development of 5G use cases and business models. Zeetta Networks is currently working on a number of proposals for this competition. The opportunity is a natural progression for Zeetta Networks’ innovation in 5G using its self-developed NetOS Software Defined Network technology to meet 5G standards and requirements.
