Zeetta Networks and Bristol Sport sign cooperation agreement for first in the world Software Defined Stadium

Zeetta Networks, the leader in Open Networking solutions for heterogeneous networks, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Bristol Sport for the deployment of Zeetta’s Network Operating System (“NetOS®”) in Ashton Gate Stadium.

Ashton Gate is currently being rebuilt into a 27,000 capacity stadium featuring state-of-the-art facilities. On completion, it would be the premier conference and events venue in the South West of England with up to 5,000 square meters of flexible exhibition space and 35 meeting rooms suitable for a wide variety of events ranging from wedding receptions and conferences to corporate meetings and shows.

The Agreement will see Zeetta’s NetOS® Software Defined Networking technology adapted, tested, qualified and deployed in Ashton Gate’s ICT network.

The key benefits from the NetOS® deployment would be freedom from proprietary (vendor-specific) lock-ins and the creation of an open platform for application development. Furthermore, the NetOS® orchestration environment will enable a better visualization, management and automation of Ashton Gate’s whole network and the easy development of new end-user applications and services which can be delivered to the Bristol Sport’s customers in a tiered and segmented way.

Vassilis Seferidis, CEO of Zeetta Networks, said: “We are very excited to announce today our partnership with Bristol Sport for the development of the first in the world Software Defined Stadium. The ability of our NetOS® to monitor and manage effectively different types of networks, from optical and packet-switched to wireless and Internet-of-Things networks, makes it ideal for dynamic environments such as Ashton Gate stadium where configuration of the ICT network changes all the time.”

Martin Griffiths, Executive Chairman of Bristol Sport commented: “Zeetta’s Software Defined Networking solution, NetOS®, provides an orchestration for our ICT network whereby bandwidth can be moved instantly from requirement to requirement, in real time, round the stadium from a central control centre without needing to reset routers and switches. Such flexibility has the potential to be of substantial operational benefit in a high pressure and fluid environment such as ours in Ashton Gate Stadium.”
